In our conversation with Mr. Dellas, he reflects on his journey into the legal profession and the values that guide his work.
What inspired you to pursue a career in law?
I was drawn to the dynamic and intellectually demanding nature of the law. No two days are the same. You’re constantly navigating new challenges in high-pressure environments, where preparation, quick-thinking, and composure are essential. I also tend to thrive in situations where there isn’t a script to rely on, where you need to think on your feet; particularly in the courtroom and mediations, where outcomes can shift in an instant.
Can you tell us a little about your journey to becoming a Barrister and Solicitor at Pascale?
From a young age, I knew I wanted to pursue a career in law, and that goal guided me throughout high school and university. While the journey had its challenges, I remained focused and committed. Achieving admission as a Barrister and Solicitor marked the culmination of hard work and determination. It’s a milestone I’m proud to have achieved.
Your practice spans family law, criminal law, as well as care and protection. What do you enjoy most about working in these areas?
What I find most rewarding is the tangible impact my work has on people’s lives. In these areas of law, outcomes genuinely matter and clients are often facing some of the most difficult periods of their lives. Being able to guide them through that process and achieve a positive result is incredibly fulfilling.
What are some of the most common issues clients come to you for help with?
Many clients come to me seeking clarity. Whether it’s understanding the legal process, navigating complex terminology, or determining the best strategy for their matter. Providing clear, practical guidance is often where I can add the most value early on.
Each of these areas of law can involve complex and emotionally challenging circumstances. How do you approach supporting clients through these situations?
My job is to guide clients through the legal system with clarity and objectivity. While I understand the emotional weight of their circumstances, it’s important to remain measured and focused to act in their best interests. By maintaining that professional distance, I’m able to provide clear advice and navigate even the most complex matters effectively.
What do you believe makes a strong lawyer-client relationship?
Trust is fundamental. A strong lawyer-client relationship is built on honesty, clear communication, and mutual confidence. Clients need to be comfortable sharing their situation openly, and know the person representing them is acting in their best interests. Without this foundation, it’s very difficult to achieve the best possible outcome.
What aspects of your work do you find most rewarding?
Achieving strong outcomes for my clients. Knowing that I’ve secured the best result. It gives real meaning to the work I do, particularly during what is often a very difficult time in their lives.
Outside of work, what are some of your interests?
Outside of work, I enjoy soccer, footy, and F1. I also value spending quality time with my family and friends. As well as this, I enjoy food, wine, music, and fashion.
